Shift ստեղն-մոդիֆիկատոր համակարգչային ստեղնաշարի կամ գրամեքենայի վրա, որն ի սկզբանե նախատեսված է եղել մեծատառերի մուտքագրման համար։ Միաժամանակ սեղմելով Shift ստեղնը և տառի ստեղնը գրվում է տվյալ տառը՝մեծատառ: Մայքրոսոֆթ Վինդոուզ-ում ստեղնաշարի լրացուցիչ (թվային) մասում միաժամանակ սեղմելով Shift ստեղնը և թվանշանի ստեղնը, գործում է IBMPC-ստեղնաշարերի համար ընդունված կուրսորային ստեղները, այլ համակարգերում կարող են մուտքագրվել կետադրական նշաններ։
Բացի այդ, Shift ստեղնը օգտագործվում է հետևյալ կերպ՝
- որպես մոդիֆիկատոր ստեղնների համադրությամբ,
- որպես մոդիֆիկատոր մկնիկի սեղղման ժամանակ(Օրինակ, եթե սեղմեք մկնիկի կոճակը, երբ կուրսորը գտնվում է հղման վրա և Shift ստեղնը միարժամանակ սեղմված է, շատ բրաուզերներում հղումը կբացվի առանձին պատուհանում)։
Ծագման պատմություն
խմբագրելՍտեղնը առաջին անգամ հայտնվել է 1878 թվականին Ռեմինգթոն № 2 գրամեքենայի վրա։ Shift անունը բառացիորեն թարգմանվում է որպես սայլակի հրում և գալիս է գրամեքենաներում այդ կոճակի ֆիզիկական իրագործումից, այն տեղաշարժում էր սայլակը, և լիթերոսիկ լծակները թղթին հարվածում էին ոչ թե փոքր տառերով, այլ մեծատառերով։ 1875 թվականի դեկտեմբերի 30-ին այս մեխանիզմը արտոնագրվել է Բայրոն Բրուքի կողմից և կիրառվել է երկրորդ սերիական թողարկվող գրամեքենայում[1][2]։
