This is a list of [[municipalities of South Africa]]. The largest [[metropolitan area]]s are governed by [[metropolitan municipality (South Africa)|metropolitan municipalities]], while the rest of the country is divided into [[district municipality (South Africa)|district municipalities]], each of which consists of several [[local municipality (South Africa)|local municipalities]].
