Broebes wurde vor allem bekannt durch die für König Friedrich I. in Preußen geschaffene Stichsammlung mit Ansichten aller Stadt- und Lustschlösser, die es um 1700 in Berlin, Potsdam und Umgebung gab. Die 52 Blätter umfassenden „Vues des Palais et Maisons de Plaisance de S. M. le Roy de Prusse“ zeigen wie das hier vorliegende Blatt eine Besonderheit des Künstlers, der zugleich Architekt war: Er stellt die Bauten nicht so dar, wie sie seinerzeit aussahen, sondern korrigierte sie oder entwarf sie mitunter komplett neu. Dies wurde ihm oft zum Vorwurf gemacht, doch Broebes wollte die Bauten nicht so darstellen wie sie sind, sondern wie sie seiner Meinung nach sein sollten. Auf dem vorliegenden Blatt geht der Blick über die im Vordergrund links liegende Dominsel mit einem barockisierten Dom und einer ebenfalls nach barocken Prinzipien errichteten Klausuranlage. Dahinter führt der Mühlendamm hinüber zur Neustadt. Rechts befindet sich die Altstadt und daneben, als höchste Erhebung, der Marienberg mit der 1721 abgerissenen Marienkirche.
