Հարավարևելյան Ասիա տարածաշրջանը զբաղեցնում է [[Հարավային Ասիա]]յի տարածաշրջանից արևելք ընկած թերակղզային տարածքները՝ [[Հնդկաչին թերակղզի]]ն և մի շարք կղզիներ ու կղզեխմբեր։ Դրանք են Փոքր Զոնդյան, Ֆիլիպինյան, Մոլուքյան կղզեխմբերը, [[Նոր Գվինեա]] կղզին։ Տարածաշրջանը միավորում է թվով 10 անկախ պետություններ։ Հարավարևելյան Ասիան ունի շատ հարմար աշխարհագրական դիրք։ Այստեղով են անցնում Հնդկական և [[Խաղաղ օվկիանոս]]ների ավազանները և դրանցում գտնվող երկրները միացնող կարևոր ծովային ճանապարհները։
=== Զարգացման բնական
Հարավարևելյան Ասիա տարածաշրջանը բարձրաբերձ լեռների, ընդարձակ ծովափնյա հարթավայրերի, լեռնային հովիտների շրջան է։ Լեռնակազմական երևույթները այժմ էլ շարունակվում են, որի վկան են գործող հրաբուխները, հաճախակի կրկնվող երկրաշարժերը, ցունամիները։ Գտնվում է արևադարձային կլիմայական գոտում, ուստի և եղանակները ամբողջ տարին խոնավ են ու տաք, առատ տեղումներով։ Միայն ծովից հեռու ներքին շրջաններում երբեմն լինում են չորային եղանակներ։ Հարթավայրային շրջանները ծածկված են ալյուվիալ, բերրի հողերով։
