Սալադինի հրամանատարությամբ Այյուբյան զորքը պարտության է մատնել խաչակիրներին 1187 թվականին [[Հաթթինի ճակատամարտ|Հաթթինի ճակատամարտում]], դրանից հետո խաչակիրներից խլել է Պաղեստինի, այդ թվում Երուսաղեմ քաղաքի, վերահսկողությունը․ խաչակիրները այս տարածքները գրավել են 88 տարի առաջ։ Չնայած Երուսաղեմի խաչակրաց թագավորությունը պահպանվել է մինչև 13-րդ դարը՝ Հաթթինում կրած պարտությունը շրջադարձային պահ է եղել տարածաշրջանում մուսուլմանական ուժերի հետ ունեցած հակամարտության մեջ։ Սալադինը մահացել է Դամասկոսում 1193 թվականին՝ իր ունեցվածքի մեծ մասը թողնելով իր ենթականերին։ Նա թաղված է [[Օմայանների մզկիթ|Օմայանների մզկիթի]] մոտակայքում գտնվող [[Դամբարաններ|դամբարանում]]։ Սալադինը նշանավոր գործիչ է մուսուլմանական, [[Արաբական մշակույթ|արաբական]], [[Թուրքիայի մշակույթ|թուրքական]] և [[Քրդական մշակույթ|քրդական մշակույթներում]]<ref>''Moors' Islamic Cultural Home souvenir III, 1970–1976'' Islamic Cultural Home, 1978, p. 7.</ref>, նրան նաև համարում են պատմության մեջ ամենահայտնի քուրդը<ref>{{cite book|author1=Carole Hillenbrand|author1=Carole Hillenbrand|title=The Crusades: Islamic Perspectives|date=1999|publisher=Psychology Press|isbn=9781579582104|page=594|edition=illustrated}}</ref><ref>{{cite book|author1=Michael M.
