Յուլիանն իր դուստր Կավային ուղարկում է Տոլեդյան արքունիք, որպեսզի այնտեղ ստանա իր ծագմանը վայել դաստիարակություն։ Սակայն նրան հավանում է վեստգոթերի թագավոր Ռոդերիխը և պատվազրկում նրան։ Ի պատասխան` Յուլիանը քաղաքն արաբներին է հանձնում՝ նախապես պայմանագիր կնքելով։ Դրանից հետո Հուլիանը սկսում է համոզել Մուսային գրավել Իսպանիան՝ խոստանալով օգնել։ Մուսան, ում դրդում էին պատերազմի նաև Իսպանիայի հրեաները, Իսպանիա է ուղարկում խալիֆ Վալիդի թույլտվությամբ մի փոքր զորամաս։
