Սեդա Տատոյան (1950[1], Հալեպ), հայ գիտնական, որը մասնագիտացած է Մերձավոր Արևելքի հետ Միջնադարյան Հայաստանի քաղաքական և մտավոր պատմության փոխազդեցության ոլորտում։ Նա 1986-2005 թվականներին եղել է Բեյրութի ամերիկյան համալսարանի Մշակութագիտության, փիլիսոփայության և արվեստի պրոֆեսոր[3]։ Դասավանդել է նաև այլ համալսարաններում, որոնցից են՝ Հայկազյան համալսարան (1981-1986), Կոլումբիայի համալսարան (2002, 2006), Նյու Ռոշել-Նյու Յորքի Սուրբ Ներսես ընծայարանում (2007-2010), Չիկագոյի համալսարանում[4]։ Նա հեղինակել է ավելի քան քառասուն հոդված և տասը գիրք[5]։ Տատոյանն առաջին հայ կինն է, որը ստացել է փիլիսոփայական գիտությունների դոկտորի կոչում հայկական փիլիսոփայության պատմության ոլորտում[6]։ Նրա աշխատությունների առանցքում Միջնադարյան Հայաստանի պատմությունն է, որում առանձնապես շեշտված են հայերի և մուսուլմանների հարաբերությունները[7]։

Սեդա Տատոյանը ծնվել է Սիրիայի Հալեպ քաղաքում, հայկական ընտանիքում[3][8]։ Նա տեղափոխվել է Բեյրութ (Լիբանան), որտեղ 1969 թվականին Բեյրութի ամերիկյան համալսարանում ստացել է փիլիսոփայության մագիստրոսի կոչում։ 1986 թվականին Տատոյանը դարձել է Բեյրութի ամերիկյան համալսարան պրոֆեսոր և մնացել այնտեղ մինչև 2005 թվականը[8][9]։ Տատոյանը նկարչական արվեստ է ուսանել Բեյրութում և Լոնդոնում, նկարիչ է։

Նրա դասախոսությունները դրական են ընդունել բազում գիտնականներ, որոնից Մայքլ Մորոնին նշել է, որ նրանք պետք է բարձրացնեն «մարդկանց գիտակցությունը Մերձավոր Արևելքի հիմնական պատմության մեջ հայերի մասնակցության հանդեպ»[10]։ Ջեյմս Ռասելը նրանց կոչել է «ինտելեկտուալ տոն»[10]։ 1999 թվականին Տատոյանը պարգևատրվել է Դավիթ Անհաղթ մեդալով[11] հայկական փիլիսոփայության ուսումնասիրության մեջ ներդրումների համար[12]։
